ANA Names Top Club Publications

Each year, the American Numismatic Association (ANA) recognizes
outstanding journals and newsletters produced by local, regional and
specialty numismatic organizations published in 2001 and submitted in the
annual competition. Winners of the 2002 Outstanding Club Publications
Contest were announced at the ANA Club Representative meeting, held on
August 2 during the ANA's 111th Anniversary Convention in New York City.
In the local club publication category, first place went to
"ACCent," published by the Anchorage Coin Club (Alaska), with
chief editor Larry Nakata. Winning second place was "Metropolitan
Coin Club of Atlanta Newsletter," published by the Metropolitan Coin
Club of Atlanta (Georgia) and edited by David Crenshaw. Third place was
taken by "Calgary Numismatic Society Bulletin," published by the
Calgary Numismatic Society (Canada) and edited by Neil Probert.
Among regional club publications, first place was awarded to The
Centinel, published by the Central States Numismatic Society and
edited by Jim and Karen Jach. Taking second place was GNA Journal,
published by the Georgia Numismatic Association and edited by David
Crenshaw. Third place was won by SCanner, published by the South
Carolina Numismatic Association and edited by Blendell Brush.
Receiving first-place honors for specialty clubs was Paper
Money, published by the Society of Paper Money Collectors and edited
by Fred Reed. Second place went to Errorscope, published by the
Combined Organization of Numismatic Error Collectors of America (CONECA)
and edited by Michael L. Ellis and Frank Leone. Third place went to Casino
Chip and Token News, published by the Casino Chip and Gaming Token
Collectors Club and edited by John Yee and Allan Anderson.
