PNG 2005 Award Nominations Sought

(Fallbrook, CA) -- The Professional Numismatists Guild (www.PNGdealers.com) has issued a call for nominations for its annual awards program.

“Each year, PNG accepts nominations for a half dozen awards representing outstanding achievements in various areas of the hobby and profession. The award recipients will be announced at the annual PNG Day summer banquet that will be held at The Palace Hotel as part of our organization’s 50th anniversary party in San Francisco on July 26,” explained Robert Brueggeman, PNG Executive Director.

Nominations can be made by sending them to the PNG office in Fallbrook, California, or directly to specific awards committee chairmen. The committees are:

Robert Friedberg Literary Award: this recognition for outstanding books or other literature is not automatically given each year, only when there are deemed to be worthy recipients. Chairman: Richard H. Ponterio, (619) 299-0400.

Sol Kaplan Award: jointly presented by PNG and the Lewis M. Reagan Foundation to recognize those who work to rid the profession of fraud and thievery, and for upholding PNG’s ethical standards. Chairman: Gary Adkins, (952) 946-8877.

Abe Kosoff Founders Award: named after PNG’s founding president, Abe Kosoff, who spearheaded the 1955 launch of the organization whose motto is Knowledge, Integrity, Responsibility.“ Chairman: Harlan J. Berk, (312) 609-0016.

Lifetime Achievement Award: this award is presented to a numismatist for his or her devotion to numismatics and making a significant contribution to the hobby over their lifetime. Chairman: John Feigenbaum, (800) 776-0560.

Significant Contribution Award: honors those who have made exceptional and beneficial efforts on behalf of PNG and the profession, and added to the hobby. Chairman: Paul Montgomery, (713) 464-6868.

The PNG is a non-profit trade association composed of the country’s top rare coin and paper money dealers.
