( Fallbrook, CA) — The Professional Numismatists Guild (www.PNGdealers.com) has issued a call for nominations for its annual awards program.
“Each year, PNG accepts nominations for a half dozen awards representing outstanding achievements in various areas of the hobby and the profession. The award recipients will be announced at the annual PNG Day summer banquet that will be held this year in Denver, Colorado on August 15,” explained Robert Brueggeman, PNG Executive Director.
Nominations can be made by sending them to the PNG office in Fallbrook, California. The awards categories are:
Robert Friedberg Literary Award in recognition for outstanding books or other literature. The honor is not automatically given each year, only when there are deemed to be worthy recipients. :
Sol Kaplan Award, jointly presented by PNG and the Lewis M. Reagan Foundation, recognizes those who work to rid the profession of fraud and thievery, and for upholding PNG’s ethical standards.
Abe Kosoff Founders Award, named after PNG’s founding president, Abe Kosoff, who spearheaded the 1955 launch of the organization whose motto is Knowledge, Integrity, Responsibility.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is presented to a numismatist for his or her devotion to numismatics and making a significant contribution to the hobby.
PNG Significant Achievement Award given to an individual who has made exceptional, beneficial efforts on behalf of the Professional Numismatists Guild and the profession.
The Art Kagin Ambassador Award now is presented each year in memory of former PNG President Art Kagin who passed away in 2005. The new annual award recognizes those who provide distinguished service as an advocate of numismatic goodwill.
The PNG is a non-profit trade association composed of the country’s top rare coin and paper money dealers. They must adhere to a strict Code of Ethics in the buying and selling of numismatic merchandise, and support a Collector’s Bill of Rights.
The chairmen for the various nomination committees are: John Feigenbaum, Sol Kaplan and Lifetime Achievement awards; Jeff Garrett, Significant Contribution and Art Kagin awards; Jonathan Kern, Abe Kosoff award; and Rick Ponterio, Robert Friedberg award.
