United States Mint Announces Sale of 2002 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set

Back to the U.S. Mint Press Release List

WASHINGTON – The United States Mint announced today that it will begin selling the 2002 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set by mail on June 12, and online at www.USMINT.gov on June 12 at noon (Eastern Time).

“The Uncirculated Coin Set is important to new collectors just starting out and experienced collectors, who will both want this important set,” said United States Mint Director Henrietta Holsman Fore. The set will again feature uncirculated ‘P’ and ‘D’ mint mark Golden Dollars.

Each 20-coin 2002 Uncirculated Coin Set includes two of each circulating U.S. coins, bearing the Philadelphia ‘P’ and Denver ‘D’ mint mark: the Lincoln cent, the Jefferson nickel, the Roosevelt dime, the Kennedy half-dollar, and the Golden Dollar featuring Sacagawea.

The set also includes the five 50 State Quarters scheduled for release in 2002—Tennessee, Ohio, Louisiana, Indiana, and Mississippi. This set is an opportunity to have all five 2002 quarters at once—in uncirculated condition—with the latest states included even before they are released into general circulation. Each set is packaged in Mylar and includes a certificate of authenticity from the United States Mint.

“The 2002 Uncirculated Coin Set is selling this year for the same low price as last year--$14.95,” said David Pickens, Associate Director for Sales and Marketing at the United States Mint. “This is quite a value, as the set once again features two additional Golden Dollar coins.”

In addition, you will find information on the 50 State Quarters & Euro Coin Collection. This is an exciting new collection of all 12 participating Euro countries’ one-Euro coins, and the five uncirculated 50 State Quarters for 2002. Limited production of 100,000 sets makes this a particularly attractive product at only $49.95.

The 2002 United States Mint Uncirculated Coin Set and The 50 State Quarters & Euro Coin Collection can be purchased three ways: First, they can be purchased online using the United States Mint’s secure website at http://www.usmint.gov/catalog. Second, they can call 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). Third, mail orders may be sent to United States Mint, P.O. Box 382601, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-8601. A shipping and handling fee of $3.95 per order will be added to all domestic orders. Hearing and speech impaired customers may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468) (TTY). Please allow approximately four to six weeks for delivery.
