The Royal Australian Mint will celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s visit to Australia to open the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games and Her Majesty’s 80th birthday by releasing three products on February 10.
The Royal collection has been designed by Mr Stuart Devlin, who was granted the Royal Warrant of Appointment as Goldsmith and Jeweller to Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.
The Royal Australian Mint has produced the beautiful Royal Collection Selectively Gold Plated Twin Coin Pack, and two 50 cent Uncirculated coins to honour the Queen. The Twin Gold Pack has a limited mintage of 7500 and features both a Royal Visit and Royal Birthday coin which have been selectively gold plated and set magnificently in a rich wooden case fitted with striking black lining.
The 50 cent Royal Uncirculated coins have been individually designed to celebrate the Royal Visit and the Queen’s 80th Birthday. The Royal Visit coin represents “the stability of the Crown contrasted with the rapid growth of Australia”, whilst the birthday coin symbolises the strong link between the United Kingdom and Australia in celebrating Her Majesty’s 80th birthday. Both coins are presented in a regally coloured card.
“The Royal collection that the Mint has created will present all Australians with the opportunity to secure a precious keepsake of the Queen’s Visit to Australia, and Her Majesty’s 80th Birthday” said the Hon Chris Pearce MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer.
With a limited mintage of only 7500 it is anticipated that the Royal Collection Selectively Gold Plated Twin Coin Pack will be a highly sought after item and is available directly from the Royal Australian Mint for purchase from Friday, 10th February by calling 1300 652 020 or visiting www.ramint.gov.au. Similarly the 50 cent Uncirculated Birthday coin and the 50 cent 2006 Royal visit coin can be purchased from February 10 by calling the same number or visiting the Royal Australian Mint website.
