Ninth President’s Birthplace is the First Place in the Nation to Get Latest $1 Coin
Charles City, Virginia, will be the first place in the Nation to get the William Henry Harrison Presidential $1 Coin when United States Mint Deputy Director Andy Brunhart presents it in a ceremony at Berkeley Plantation-President Harrison’s birthplace-on President’s Day, February 16, at 11 a.m. Eastern Time (ET). The news media and public are invited to the event, which includes a ceremonial pour of thousands of shiny, new William Henry Harrison Presidential $1 Coins and a coin exchange. Children 18 years old and younger will receive a William Henry Harrison Presidential $1 Coin. Costumed guides will conduct tours of the 18th century manor house.
The William Henry Harrison Presidential $1 Coin is the ninth coin released in the United States Mint’s Presidential $1 Coin Program. The coin features a dramatic portrait of our Nation’s ninth president on the coin’s obverse (heads side) and the Statue of Liberty on the reverse.
